Mickie Caspi Ketubahs


A most prolific artist, Mickie has been creating Judaic art since 1980. Her delicate watercolors are inspired by many sources including traditional Jewish, Persian and Arabic motifs, contemporary graphics, art nouveau and her love of nature.She has exhibited extensively in Israel and the United States and her illustrations appear in several Hebrew children's books.

 

 

Ahava Ketubah

    Tiny, delicate flowers embellish a rich cobalt blue background to create a stylistically simple yet harmonious ketubah. Their is a feeling of opulence with gold foil accents and an elegant golden trim. The word Ahava means love in Hebrew.


 

Amethyst Ketubah

    The stunning watercolor skill of the artist is evident in this delicate image inspired by the opulence of amethyst. Amethyst is one of the twelve precious gems used in the breastplate of the high priest (Exodus 28:19 and 39:12). The special diamond, holographic silver foil shines and shimmers in varied, subtle colors as would actual jewels.

    The art of papercutting traces its roots in the Jewish Tradition to the 14th century rabbi, Shem-Tov ben Yitzhak ben Ardutiel, who after his ink froze, completed a treatise by cutting out the letters. Although this artwork is not an actual papercut, Mickie was inspired by this tradition to create a stunning ketubah using the papercut motif. The famous quote from the Song of Songs ÒI am my beloveds and my beloved is mineÓ and all of the imagery is rendered as though cut out of a single sheet of paper. Two traditional quotes are beautifully calligraphed and added in radiant gold foil.
