The Traditional Ketubah
In a traditional Jewish wedding ceremony, the Ketubah with the Traditional Aramaic text is presented by the husband to his wife. Although it may sound like a romantic gesture it is actually a legally binding one. In the ketubah contract which is attested to by two witnesses, the groom agrees that his wife is entitled to his property in the event of his death or dissolution of the marriage. The sages were wise to specify the groom's financial obligations to his wife in the ketubah as it makes divorce a costly option therefore strengthening the Jewish family. If you are looking for a Traditional Ketubah you have come to the right place. Traditional Jewish weddings honor the rituals that have been passed down to us through the generations and the Ketubah is available with all of the design options, from traditional to contemporary. The English text that is offered is not a direct translation of the Aramaic so for each ketubah that you are considering be sure to read the English. As always, check the text with your rabbi for approval.
